yarra valley wine tour
Relaxed, personalised tours to the Yarra Valley that includes Kellybrook, Domaine Chandon, Yering Station and De Bortoli Wineries. We've selected certain wineries for what we believe they bring to the day's experience, however if you have any particular wineries you'd like to visit, please advise us.
Depart from nominated pick up point around 9.30am. Take the scenic route out through Templestowe and Warrandyte. Arrive at Kellybrook Winery, Wonga Park. Originally established as an apple orchard they have successfully moved from cider to table wine production. As with some of the wineries in the valley this is family owned and operated so the welcome is always a little more personal. Their cider production is unique to the valley and makes for an interesting taste comparison. Cheese and biscuits will be served here. Enhancing the visit would be an audience with the winemaker and some special barrel tastings.
A short drive away, through rolling countryside is the Yering Station Vineyards at Yering. This was Victoria's first vineyard back in 1838 and it enjoyed international success until economic factors closed it in the late 1890's. It was replanted in 1988 and reopened in 1992. Enjoy a tasting here in the original winery that also includes a Produce Store before adjourning to their stunning Wine Bar Restaurant for a main course lunch.
Close by is Domaine Chandon at Coldstream which has been established by the French champagne house, Moet et Chandon. The millions that have been spent have not only created something pleasing to the eye but have elevated the profile of the valley to an even higher level. Enjoy a glass of sparkling with a light snack in the beautiful Green Point Room. The property is named after the original homestead that is now the Admin Centre. It was given the name Green Point because it was the greenest place in the valley during summer.
The final winery to be visited would be De Bortoli at Dixons Creek. The elevated position of the cellar door and cheese room affords glorious views across the vines to the surrounding hills. The largest producer in the valley, they produce the widest variety of wines over their 3 ranges. Enjoy a tasting of these wines together with some unique Australian and International cheeses. Return at approximately 6.00pm
